October 5 in the village Chernyanka of the Kherson
area the 1-st festival of modern gender art "DIDTSEBABA"
took place. The strange (on the first sight) title of the festival
is connected to traditional "face" of Kherson area - Scythian
stone BABA (women images, sculptures). Also the translation from
Turki's language a word "baba" (woman) means "father,
elder (grandfather - DID in Ukrainian)". Village Chernyanka
was selected because of the roots of vanguard art not only in Kherson
are connected to it, but also in Ukraine, and Russia, and even Europe
and world: here in the beginning of 20 century the first Russian
futuristic group "Gileya" was organised.

It seems, "DIDTSEBABA" is the first open-air festival of modern
art in Kherson region, and the oldest inhabitants of Chernyanka said, that
for them this festival was "the first time in all life". The young
artists and stylists integrated their art-works into landscape, or created
art-works directly in the place. When the visitors and journalists arrived
to the festival, they discovered, that it was almost impossible for 2 hours
to watch all created works...
P.S. The festival "DIDTSEBABA" is the part of the project of the
Centre of the youth initiatives "Тотем" "Icebreaker - 2002:
development and applying of small-budget mechanisms of creative and art
activity with the help of between-sectors partnership (local government
- business - NGOs) in the sphere of cultural policy as a model of viable
culture of regions of Ukraine on example of the Kherson area", supported
by International "Renaissance" Foundation. In organization of
this festival the department on family and youth of Department of social
policy of Kherson city administration and NGO "ATOM" became a
good partners. |
