The unique phenomenon - the festival of contemporary art "DIDTSEBABA",
- at the second time stunned the inhabitants of the village Chornyanka of
Kakhovsky district. Let's remember that a strange (on the first sight) name
of the festival is connected with the traditional "face" of Kherson
area - Scythian stone BABA (women images, sculptures). Also the translation
from Turkic of a word "baba" (an old woman) means "father,
elder (grandfather - DID in Ukrainian)". Village Chornyanka was chosen
because of the roots of vanguard art not only in Kherson but also in Ukraine,
and Russia, and even in Europe and world: here in the beginning of 20 century
the first Russian futuristic group "Gileya" was organised.
This year Centre of Youth Initiatives "Totem" suggested the theme
"March to the East" that is connected with the general tendency
of increasing interest towards the culture of Islam countries as well as
with the past of Chornyanka the name of which comes of "Black Valley"
- Cara-Dere. There was the nomad-camp of ancient Tatars-nomads on their
way to Crimea in the very "Cara-Dere" and in time thanks to this
fact a settlement appeared there. So "March to the East" is return
to ancient roots for Chornyanka. |
